Apple’s HomePod 2 goes on sale in India: Price, features and more

Apple’s HomePod 2 made its debut after a gap of almost five years. The second generation of the company’s smart speaker, which was launched last month, comes with advanced computational audio and support for immersive Spatial Audio tracks. It is now available for purchase in India.

The HomePod 2 is powered by the S7 chip and sports a custom-engineered high-excursion woofer, built-in bass-EQ mic and five tweeters. It also comes with a transparent mesh fabric and a backlit touch surface.
As per the company, the smart speaker gets a motor to drive the diaphragm. It also gets room-sensing technology that allows it to recognise sound reflections from nearby surfaces to determine if it is against a wall or freestanding and then adapts to sound in real-time.
The newest generation of HomePod offers several smart features, including Sound Recognition which enables it to recognise smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and send a notification directly to the user’s iPhone if a sound is identified.

Additionally, there is also a new temperature and humidity sensor that can measure indoor environments, so users can create automations that close the blinds or turn on the fan automatically when a certain temperature is reached in a room.
As far as connectivity is concerned, HomePod 2 supports Matter and can connect with other Matter-enabled accessories. Additionally, HomePod 2 can be paired with Apple TV 4K and comes with eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) support on Apple TV 4K. The new HomePod also offers support for Find My, which makes it possible for users to locate their Apple devices, like an iPhone, by playing a sound on the misplaced device.
