Motorola Edge 50 Pro European Price Leaked Ahead of India Debut

[ad_1]

Motorola is gearing up to announce its next mid-range flagship — Motorola Edge 50 Pro — on April 3 in India. Just days before the official launch, a tipster has suggested the smartphone’s European pricing. Motorola has already teased a few specifications of the new Edge series phone through its social media handles and a Flipkart landing page. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is confirmed to run on Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC. It will sport a 6.7-inch pOLED display with support for 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.

Tipster Paras Guglani (@passionategeekz) spotted the Motorola Edge 50 Pro on an Italian retail website. As per the screenshot of the listing shared by the tipster on X, the handset will be priced at EUR 864 (roughly Rs. 77,000) for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant. The predecessor —Motorola Edge 40 Pro — was launched in April last year with a price tag of EUR 899.99 (roughly Rs. 80,500) for the sole 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The tipster earlier claimed that the Indian variant will be priced at Rs. 44,999 for the same RAM and storage model.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro will launch in India on April 3. It is set to go on sale via Flipkart. Both Flipkart and Motorola India are teasing the specifications and design of the handset. It is confirmed to be available in black, purple, and white shades.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC is confirmed to power the Motorola Edge 50 Pro. It will sport a 6.7-inch pOLED display with support for 1.5K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 2,000 nits peak brightness. The display is teased to offer HDR10+ certification and 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is confirmed to pack an optical in-display fingerprint scanner. It will boast an AI-backed triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50-megapixel 2μm AI-powered primary camera, an ultra-wide camera with 50x hybrid zoom, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens. It will offer an IP68 rated build as well.

The Motorola Edge 40 recently made its debut in the country as the successor to the Edge 30 that was launched last year. Should you buy this phone instead of the Nothing Phone 1 or the Realme Pro+? We discuss this and more on Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. Orbital is available on Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and wherever you get your podcasts.

Google Announces Generative AI Model to Mitigate the Uncertainty in Weather Forecasting
Google Announces Generative AI Model to Mitigate the Uncertainty in Weather Forecasting

[ad_1]

Google Research announced a new generative artificial intelligence (AI) model on Friday which can help mitigate the uncertainty and inaccuracies in weather forecasting. The AI model is dubbed Scalable Ensemble Envelope Diffusion Sampler (SEEDS), and instead of following the traditional probabilistic model of weather forecasting, the AI model is based on denoising diffusion probabilistic models. This is not the first weather forecasting model that the tech giant is working on, as it has previously unveiled GraphCast, a model that can predict weather up to 10 days ahead, and MetNet-3, a high-resolution forecast model for a 24-hour duration.

The announcement was made by senior software engineer Lizao Li and Google Research’s research scientist Rob Carver in a blog post. The team has published a paper on the generative AI model SEEDS in the Science Advances journal. As per the announcement, the AI model will innovate weather forecasting in two distinct ways — making it more accurate and bringing down the cost to predict weather.

Highlighting the two major issues in modern weather forecasting, the paper stated that right now models run something called “probabilistic forecasts”. Essentially, they focus on the initial conditions to generate a primary forecast and as the conditions progress and the weather models receive more data, the model corrects itself to generate more accurate forecast. Google says this method allows for more uncertainty in longer-duration predictions. On costs, the research team highlighted that the massive supercomputers running highly complex numerical weather models, where the predictions need to be constantly generated to get to an accurate outcome, can run a high cost.

SEEDS, as per the research paper, works on denoising diffusion probabilistic models, which was developed by Google Research. It was trained on skill-based metrics such as rank histogram, the root-mean-squared error (RMSE), and the continuous ranked probability score (CRPS). The paper claims that while the model runs a negligible computational cost, it also improves the accuracy of the initial prediction, requiring less number of forecast generation during a particular time period.

The research team also included instances of running the AI model to predict weather and found that it offered higher reliability than the Gaussian model. Highlighting the example of a geopotential trough west of Portugal, it said, “Although the Gaussian model predicts the marginal univariate distributions adequately, it fails to capture cross-field or spatial correlations. This hinders the assessment of the effects that these anomalies may have on hot air intrusions from North Africa, which can exacerbate heat waves over Europe.” As per Google Research, SEEDS is able to account for these factors to improve its prediction. The model is yet to be peer-reviewed, and depending on its viability, might be developed into a commercial model later on.

Google Chat may be getting a WhatsApp Channels-like feature; Know all about ‘Announcements’
Google Chat may be getting a WhatsApp Channels-like feature; Know all about ‘Announcements’

[ad_1]

In a bid to bolster its presence in the social media market, Google is adding a nifty new feature to its messaging service, Chat. Google Chat, which replaced Hangouts, allows users to stay in touch and collaborate with others on projects. However, unlike WhatsApp Channels, it does now allow broadcast communication. But that is set to change soon as leaks suggest a new ‘Announcements’ feature could make its way onto Google Chat.

Google Chat ‘Announcements’ feature

According to an Android Police report, tipster AssembleDebug shared details about an upcoming ‘Announcements’ feature. In an X post, the tipster said, “Google Chat is working on a new ‘Announcements’ feature which will allow you to ‘Broadcast and share updates with your groups’.”

It means with the ‘Announcements’ feature, Google Chat users will be able to select two options when starting a new conversation – Collaboration and Announcements. The collaboration will allow users to “collaborate on projects, plans or topics”. With it, they may be able to assign tasks, share files and organize conversations by threads.

On the other hand, the Announcements feature will bring broadcast functionality, allowing select users to post messages and share updates with the people they want, like WhatsApp Channels. While the tipster said, “There isn’t much info about it yet”, a screenshot of what looks like the work-in-progress UI shows how the feature might work.

Other features

Google Chat has been getting more and more updates lately, perhaps in a bid to catch up to the competition. In November, Google revamped the navigation system for the Chat app on Android and iOS devices and it brought a pill-shaped navigation bar, allowing easy and quick access to Gmail, Chat, and Google Meet.

In the same month, Google also introduced the ability to comment directly on Docs and Sheets, a feature that helps in collaborative spaces. Moreover, Google now shows more of the content thread to give users more context while replying to chats.

[ad_1]

Redmi A3x may come to India soon. While the company has not yet confirmed the moniker of the handset or its launch, a report citing internal sources claims that the phone is expected to be unveiled in several markets around the world. It is likely to be a rebadged version of the Redmi A3, which was launched in India in February this year. The rumoured Redmi A3x is expected to share most specifications with the Redmi A3.

A Gizmochina report claims that a new Redmi handset with model numbers “24048RN6CG” and “24048RN6CI” will launch soon. The number “2404” suggests that the model may launch in April 2024, while the “G” and “I” at the end stand for global and Indian variants, respectively, according to the report. The report claims that the phone is expected to carry the moniker Redmi A3x. It is also tipped to launch with some changes to the recently launched Redmi A3.

Another report by MySmartPrice says that a Redmi smartphone with the model number “24048RN6CI” was spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) certification site suggesting an imminent India launch. The report added that the variant with the model number “24048RN6CG” appeared on Singapore’s IMDA and Russia’s EEC certification websites.

The Redmi A3 launched in India with an octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 SoC, a 6.71-inch 90Hz HD+ (1,600 x 700 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, an AI-backed dual 8-megapixel camera unit, and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. The handset is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 10W fast charging support.

Offered in Midnight Black, Lake Blue, and Olive Green colour options, the Redmi A3 starts in India at Rs. 7,299 for the 3GB + 64GB option, while the 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB are priced at Rs. 8,299 and Rs. 9,299, respectively.

The tech giant recently confirmed that WordPad, the native word processor that has been a staple since 1995, will be phased out from Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025 editions.

This move comes as part of Microsoft’s broader effort to streamline its offerings and optimise user experience. While the exact reasons behind this decision remain unclear, it marks the end of an era for many users who have relied on WordPad for basic word-processing tasks.

Leveraging big data for strategic business decisions

[ad_1]

Organizations today heavily rely on big data to drive decision-making and strategize for the future, adapting to an ever-expanding array of data sources, both internal and external. This reliance extends to a variety of tools used to harness this data effectively.

In the modern business environment, with an estimated 2.5 quintillion bytes of data generated daily, big data is undoubtedly pivotal in understanding and developing all aspects of an organization’s goals. However, known for its vast volume and rapid collection, big data can overwhelm and lead to analysis paralysis if not managed and analyzed objectively. But, when dissected thoughtfully, it can provide the critical insights necessary for strategic advancement.

Crypto Price Today: Bitcoin Value Currently Over $73,000, Ether Volatile After Dencun Upgrade
Bitcoin Steps into April with Small Gains, Altcoins See Slight Relief from Volatility

[ad_1]

The crypto sector underwent tremendous ups and downs in the month of March, with Bitcoin reaching an all-new high of over $73,000 (roughly 60.8 lakh). On Monday, April 1, Bitcoin recorded a minor gain of 1.35 percent to trade at $67,014 (roughly Rs. 55.8 lakh) in India. The most expensive asset on the crypto block, Bitcoin’s price did not see a significant change from its value last week as we step into April. On Binance, the asset is trading at a slightly higher price of $70,950.37 (roughly Rs. 59 lakh).

“Since last week, Bitcoin has been trying to break the $71,500 (roughly Rs. 59.6 lakh) resistance only to fall back to $70,000 level. It would be interesting to see how the Bitcoin price action unfolds this halving with just 22 days left roughly for the 4th Bitcoin halving,” Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin told Gadgets360, commenting on Bitcoin’s trajectory.

Ether followed Bitcoin and registered small gains on April 1. At the time of writing, ETH was trading at $3,395 (roughly Rs. 2.83 lakh).

“While ETH is experiencing an overall positive price action, its liquid supply seems to be declining. As per Glassnode data, just 11 percent of ETH’s total supply is currently available for active trading, down from 15.8 percent same time last year. However, given the investor sentiment and whale accumulation pattern, this has only bolstered ETH’s price by over 50 percent since the beginning of 2024,” Parth Chaturvedi, Investments Lead, CoinSwitch Ventures told Gadgets360.

Most altcoins snapped out of the volatility phases over the weekend and settled on the profit-side of the crypto chart on Monday.

These include Solana, Ripple, USD Coin, Dogecoin, Avalanche, Polkadot, and Bitcoin Cash.

Small profits have also been registered by Tron, Polygon, Litecoin, Near Protocol, Cosmos, and Cronos.

“DOGE emerged as one of the biggest gainers in the last seven days with gains of over 25 percent, currently trading at $0.17 (roughly Rs. 14.52). Another dog-themed meme coin entered the meme coin big leagues over the weekend. Dogwifhat (WIF; +6.2 percent) has become the third-largest meme coin with over 60 percent in weekly gains,” Chaturvedi noted.

The overall crypto market cap went up by 0.48 percent in the last 24 hours. The valuation of the sector presently stands at $2.67 trillion (roughly Rs. 2,22,68,721 crore), as per CoinMarketCap.

While most altcoins are trading in gains on Monday, a notable number of cryptocurrencies also registered losses on Monday. These include Tether, Binance Coin, Cardano, Shiba Inu, Chainlink, and Uniswap.

The market analysts have alerted the investors to be cautious because overall, the crypto market continues to be on an extremely greedy streak.

Who should lead your AI initiative?

[ad_1]

With the rapid rise in AI and generative AI, enterprises who initially experimented with select AI use cases are now reimagining company-wide processes and strategies for how the business fundamentally operates. McKinsey estimates that in the enterprise, AI adoption has more than doubled since 2017 with investments going up each year.

AI will continue to set apart organizations that can harness its power at scale in secure and governed ways. The challenge is not if the right technology exists, but rather in having the expertise and people to successfully carry the vision of AI into reality. Deploying AI tools needs to be a coordinated effort, requiring a portfolio of AI experts across all parts of an organization – from ethics to legal to technology – led by a clear Head of AI.

GTA 5 Could Unofficially Be Ported to Android, Nintendo Switch and Linux, Leak Shows
GTA 5 Could Unofficially Be Ported to Android, Nintendo Switch and Linux, Leak Shows

[ad_1]

Grand Theft Auto 5 has enjoyed a long-lasting life on multiple platforms since its release in 2013. Fuelled by the popularity of GTA Online, GTA 5 continues to attract players on PlayStation and Xbox consoles and PC. Ahead of the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 next year, however, GTA 5 could be available to more players on mobile and Nintendo Switch platforms, but not officially. Third party developers are reportedly working on Android, Linux and Nintendo Switch ports of the game.

GTA Focal (@GTAFocal), a Grand Theft Auto news portal, claimed in an X post last week that a group of modders were trying to port GTA 5 to the Nintendo Switch, Linux and Android. The new development reportedly comes as a result of the leak of the GTA 5 source code back in December last year.

“A group of modders are trying to port GTA 5 to the Nintendo Switch, Linux, and Android thanks to the source code leak from December,” the post said. Accompanying video and screenshot with the post showed GTA 5 loading screen with error messages on Nintendo Switch and Android. The leak suggests that the port is not yet fully functional on the platforms.

The efforts to bring GTA 5 on Android and Nintendo Switch are helmed by modders and third-party developers. Rockstar Games has not announced any ports for GTA 5 on these platforms. The developer released an “Expanded & Enhanced” version of GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in 2022, featuring improvements to visuals and performance on current-gen consoles.

In December 2023, Rockstar Games was hit with a hack that leaked the whole source code for GTA 5. The leaks also included GTA 6 codes and files from a rumoured sequel to the company’s 2006 game, Bully.

As of February 2024, GTA 5 has sold over 195 million copies worldwide. Initially launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, the game is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and PC. Its much-awaited sequel, GTA 6, received a reveal trailer in December last year and is confirmed to release on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in 2025.
