Smartphone Storage: Smartphone storage full? Here are five things you can do to free up storage space

[ad_1]

Smartphones today have become an extension of human self. People rely on them not only to connect with friends and family, but also access apps and services including social media platforms, access apps and capture a lot of photos.
All this consumes storage and it is a common thing to see regular prompts about storage getting full all the time.
Here are five things to do to free up some storage space in your phone:
Delete unnecessary apps:
Begin by decluttering your device from unused or rarely used applications.Go through your app list and identify those that no longer serve a purpose. Remove them by uninstalling to instantly reclaim valuable storage space. Additionally, consider alternatives that offer similar functionalities but occupy less space.
Clear cached data:
Over time, apps accumulate cached data that can consume a significant portion of your storage. These temporary files are designed to enhance the app’s performance, but they can also take up unnecessary space. Head to your device settings, locate the “Storage” or “Storage Management” section, and clear cached data. This simple step can free up several megabytes or even gigabytes of storage.
Move photos and videos to the cloud
Media files, particularly photos and videos, often constitute a large portion of your device’s storage. Instead of storing them locally, consider using cloud services like Google Photos or iCloud to back up your media. Once uploaded, you can safely delete them from your device, ensuring that your precious memories are securely stored while creating more space on your smartphone.
Manage downloads and files
Review your download folder and file manager regularly to identify and delete unnecessary files. This includes documents, PDFs, and miscellaneous downloads that may have accumulated over time. Be cautious not to delete critical system files, but removing redundant data can significantly improve your smartphone’s storage situation.
Optimise app settings
Some apps offer settings that allow you to control the amount of data they store on your device. Navigate to the settings of individual apps and check for options such as offline content, download quality, or cache size. Adjusting these settings can help reduce the amount of storage an app consumes without sacrificing essential functionalities.

They are said to feature next-gen neural processing unit (NPU), along with Intel and Arm-based options.

A report by Windows Central citing sources states that Microsoft Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 will be launched in the spring with a choice of either an Intel or an Arm processor. Realme teases a new smartphone coming in India with a periscope camera
Realme teases a new smartphone coming in India with a periscope camera

[ad_1]

Realme has teased a new smartphone coming soon, which will have a periscope telephoto camera. While the teaser does not spill what model it could be, rumours are that the company is supposedly teasing its upcoming numbered series smartphone, the Realme 12 Pro+. Though, it could also be the Realme GT5 Pro, which launched in China earlier this year.
The Indian unit of Realme shared an image of a periscope camera on the phone on X, writing, “No Periscope. No Flagship.” Although the brand did not confirm the name of the smartphone, it is believed to be the Realme 12 Pro+. However, some sources suggest it could be the GT5 Pro instead.

Rumours are that the said smartphone will launch in India in the coming months, either by the end of January or early February.
This would be the first smartphone from Realme with a periscope telephoto lens to make it out of China. The last and first Relame smartphone to have a periscope camera that launched in India was the X3 SuperZoom, which launched in the market in 2020. Though Realme also launched the GT5 Pro this year, it remains China-exclusive, and there is no word if the smartphone will make it out of its home market anytime soon.
If the said smartphone is Realme 12 Pro+, it will succeed the Realme 12 Pro, which launched in India back in December 2022. It is also expected that the company could also bring the Realme 12 Pro to the Indian market alongside the Pro+ model.
As of now, there are no details known about the design and specifications of Realme’s upcoming smartphone. We expect to learn more in the coming weeks as the launch nears.
