If you’ve been using a OnePlus Watch 2 and you don’t want to lose your health data while transitioning to another phone, then the latest update will be good news indeed.
As reported by Android Authority, users will soon be able to update the OHealth app on their phone to v4.21.5 and see a new data migration option, which will let them switch phones without losing health data tied to the OnePlus Watch 2.
You’ll find the functionality within the profile settings under “Migrate data”, and you’ll need to make sure your two phones are signed into the OHealth app and connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
You won’t need to install an update to the OnePlus Watch 2 itself, only to the OHealth app. The update also allows you to tweak some of your watch’s settings from your phone, such as activating the raise-to-wake display function, and media control settings, such as whether or not it’ll automatically show media controls when you put audio on.
What about Wear OS?
The OnePlus Watch 2 does run Wear OS, which offers its own data migration tool as of version 4.0. That made it much easier to swap from, for example, a Pixel 7 to a Pixel 8 and continue building your health data without starting again – something that’s time-consuming and inconvenient.
So why isn’t this supported right off the bat with the OnePlus Watch 2? The smartwatch actually runs two operating systems which can be switched between, so if you’re running a OnePlus phone you’ll be able to transfer your data more smoothly.
Since there aren’t any downsides to using a non-OnePlus phone alongside the watch, this smartwatch just became a lot more flexible for just about any user, with any phone: a rarity in the current closed-ecosystem tech climate. It’s perhaps tied with the much-cheaper, less advanced CMF Watch Pro by Nothing for best system-agnostic watch.

Truecaller for Web was launched by the company on Wednesday as a new way to access the platform when a user’s Android smartphone isn’t nearby. Users can now log on to the web interface and look up numbers, or message contacts via SMS or Truecaller chat. Once loaded, the Truecaller for Web interface will also show messages that are automatically categorised. It currently works with Android smartphones, and there’s no word from the company on when — or whether — iPhone support will arrive.
While the Swedish company previously allowed users to look up unknown numbers on its website after signing in, the newly announced Truecaller for Web interface is designed to bring more features from the Android app to the browser. After linking the web client with Truecaller on a smartphone, users can look up unknown numbers, even if their phone isn’t nearby, by typing or pasting them into the search bar.
Alerts for incoming calls will be displayed on a computer that is linked to Truecaller on an Android phone. Other services like Microsoft’s Phone Link app allows you to view incoming notifications (including phone calls) even when your phone isn’t nearby, albeit without the unknown number lookup functionality.
Users will be able to view and use their PC (or laptop) keyboard to reply to SMS and Truecaller chat messages on their computer, organised into three categories — Inbox, Promotions and Spam. Outgoing messages can also be marked as urgent from the web interface, according to the company. The web interface will also allow users to attach files as large as 100MB.
To access Truecaller for Web, users will need to have Truecaller installed on an Android smartphone and a modern web browser on Windows or macOS like Firefox, Google Chrome, or Microsoft Edge. Navigating to the Messages tab and tapping the three-dot menu > Messaging for Web > Link a device will let users can the QR code displayed on the website to log in to Truecaller for Web. The feature is only supported on Android smartphones, which means that iPhone owners won’t be able to access the same functionality.

The rise of generative AI technologies as well as immersive virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) experiences present a unique dilemma for the post-industrial society we now live in.
While these advancements hold tremendous potential to revolutionize the way we live and work, they also pose a significant risk of exacerbating existing societal trends of escapism, potentially leading to a major drain on the workforce.
Escapism already on the rise
The phenomenon of escapism is not new. In Japan, the Hikikomori–reclusive individuals who withdraw from society to seek solace in virtual worlds–serve as a cautionary tale. Primarily young men, these individuals opt out of the workforce and societal engagement, fulfilling their needs for companionship, achievement, and even sexual gratification through the rough proxies of video games and pornography. With millions of such individuals, the economic and societal impact on Japan is palpable.
This trend is not confined to Japan. In the West, particularly in the United States, there is a growing occurrence of working-age men who are not only unemployed, but also disengaged from seeking work or education. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, men ages 25 to 54 have been dropping out of the workforce for decades. Their participation rate rebounded between 2017 to 2019 but dropped again during the Covid pandemic and still has not recovered despite record job growth. The allure of digital escapism through video games and online content is a contributing factor to this disengagement as these virtual experiences become increasingly sophisticated and compelling.

Digital lotus eaters
The advent of technologies like the Apple Vision Pro and generative video platforms like SORA testifies to the rapid advancement of VR and AR. While these technologies promise to enhance our lives in various ways–from immersive gaming to practical applications like checking emails on a morning walk–they also carry the potential to deepen the escapism trend and lead to a class of individuals who contribute little to the economy or society.
As the digital “Lotus”–the seductive appeal of virtual experiences–becomes more enticing, we risk losing more people to the entertainment and distraction of the virtual world.
Right now video games and adult content provide a very rough proxy for fulfilling deep human needs for companionship, achievement, novelty, and sexual release.

Soon AI-generated, hyper-customized personal experiences will offer more than a rough proxy, they’ll offer a viable (and often more rich) alternative.
3-D experiences
According to Comparitech data, the average American spends more than 7 hours a day looking at screens. For many users, this time will shift into virtual worlds. Imagine an AI system trained on the rich, 3-D experiences of its user, as well as their biofeedback. Such a system could “conjure” experiences that are better than “real.”
The allure of VR and AR lies in these technologies’ future promise to meet our needs more reliably than traditional methods. For example, someone seeking relaxation might find that a VR experience, tailored to their preferences and adjusted in real time based on biofeedback, provides a more consistent and satisfying sense of calm than a walk in the woods or conversation with a friend.
Similarly, entertainment (shifting plot and genre to keep you engaged in real time), sexual gratification, and even friendship/camaraderie (imagine a friend who gives the best advice, knows you completely, and always makes you feel good) could be fulfilled more effectively in a virtual environment, tailored to the individual’s desires.
We could imagine similar dynamics for simulating fun experiences with AI “friends”, or romantic partners.
Today, winning certain accolades in Fortnite is more fulfilling to some young men than starting a business or a career. When AI-generated experiences are all the more customized to appeal to the “achievement” circuits of individual users, how many more of them will choose to fulfill that circuit in a personal haven rather than the real world – so full of disappointments and annoyances?
Achieving a societal “win with AI / VR”
We are facing the challenge of how to harness the potential of VR and AR in a way that retains the involvement of citizens in the economy, in systems of governance, and/or in the sciences. To augment and encourage “contributors,” not merely “lotus eaters.”
One approach is to develop what I term “ambitious AI ecosystems”–immersive AI environments designed to help individuals focus and achieve specific goals, whether it be in business, science, or personal development. These environments could gamify the pursuit of objectives, making the process of achieving goals as engaging as any video game.
Technology alone cannot solve the problem. We must cultivate a societal awareness and set of norms that encourages engagement with the real world and discourages escapism. This might involve promoting the value of real-world achievements and interactions, as well as ensuring that VR and AR technologies are used in ways that enhance, rather than replace, real-life experiences.
Ultimately, the issue at hand is a profound one: what do we truly want for our lives? The digital age has brought us to a point where we can fulfill our desires in ways that are more immediately gratifying than ever before. However, navigating this new landscape, we must ask ourselves whether these virtual fulfillments are truly what we seek or if they are mere distractions from the deeper, more meaningful experiences that life has to offer.
As we stand on the brink of a promising new era of virtual reality, we must tread carefully, ensuring we use these powerful technologies to enhance our lives rather than escape from them. It seems safe to say that nations who keep their best minds working on real and contributive aims will be best suited to prosper in the remainder of the 21st century – and the trajectory of this technology will in large part be set in the coming half decade.

Microsoft has released a major patch that addresses two critical zero-day vulnerabilities alongside a whole host of other security flaws.
The April 2024 Patch addresses both the proxy driver spoofing vulnerability tracked as CVE-2024-26234 and the SmartScreen prompt security feature bypass vulnerability tracked as CVE-2024-29988.
The patch also covers fixes for 147 other security flaws rated between Important and Low in severity.
Double zero-day
The first zero-day exploit, CVE-2024-26234, was discovered in December 2023 by cybersecurity firm Sophos and identified as a malicious executable file which has been signed by a Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher (WHCP) certificate. Sophos linked the malicious file to a piece of software called LaiXi Android Screen Mirroring, released by Hainan YouHu Technology Co. Ltd.
The vulnerability acts as a backdoor via network traffic interception and monitoring and has since been added to Microsoft’s revocation list, but Sophos has seen indications that this vulnerability has been exploited since as far back as January 2023.
The second zero-day, CVE-2024-29988, is a continued exploitation of an incomplete security patch applied to the CVE-2024-21412 flaw. The vulnerability uses a bespoke file to dodge Microsoft Defender Smartscreen security. Microsoft said that for this particular vulnerability, “an attacker would need to convince a user to launch malicious files using a launcher application that requests that no UI be shown.”
In such a case, the attacker could send the infected file via email or instant messaging that, once opened, would exploit the remote code execution vulnerability. This vulnerability has been spotted in the wild, with Microsoft tagging it as “Exploitation More Likely”.

Bitdefender has upgraded its Digital Identity Protection feature, as it now integrates with Gmail and Outlook.
The antivirus vendor’s identity theft protection service monitors the dark web to see if a user’s personal information has been stolen and leaked by hackers. Now, Digital Identity Protection connects with Google‘s Gmail and Microsoft Outlook.
Bitdefender claims that the new integrations “vastly expand the monitoring reach of the service, adding hundreds more websites and services which increase the visibility of a users’ digital identity footprint including old accounts that may have been forgotten.”
Identity theft protection
Bitdefender claims that identity theft poses a real threat to users, citing data from the FTC that consumers lost $10bn last year to fraud – a 14% increase over 2022. The Identity Theft Resource Center also reported that there were over 3,000 publicly reported data compromises last year as well, impacting over 350m people.
“Each time passwords, and personal or financial information are entered in an app or website for shopping, banking, healthcare and social media – netizens inadvertently heighten their exposure to identity-related crimes like data breaches and extortion,” said Ciprian Istrate, senior vice president, Bitdefender Consumer Solutions Group.
He added that with the firm’s Digital Identity Protection service, users are alerted when their sensitive information may have been breached, allowing them to “quickly act by changing passwords, deleting accounts, or freezing credit cards before a serious incident occurs.”
It monitors the use of personal information, such as emails addresses, passwords, credit cards, SSNs, and phone numbers. The service also lets users see a copy of the personal data another company or service holds on them, and they can even request for their entire data to be deleted.

Razer has just announced that its excellent mid-range gaming headset, the BlackShark V2 Pro, now has models available for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Previously, the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro had one PC-compatible model. Now, the brand has introduced versions for PlayStation and Xbox, coming in at $199.99 / £199.99. Do note, however, that the PlayStation version, specifically, isn’t multiplatform while the Xbox version will work across its native systems as well as PS5 and PS4.
Additionally, the headset is available in both black and white colorways for either version, like we see for some of the best wireless gaming headsets like the JBL Quantum 910P and JBL Quantum 910X.
And for those looking for a more budget-friendly gaming headset, there’s also been an update for the Razer BlackShark V2 X. Impressively, this headset does offer many of its pricier counterpart’s features like robust 50mm drivers and noise canceling, though you are missing out on wireless connectivity here as it relies on a 3.5mm jack. It’s now available for consoles for $49.99 / £49.99.
We were huge fans of the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro in our review, citing its immersive and detailed audio, superb battery life and high level of comfort as reasons why you should consider buying it. We did find its lower ends to be fairly lacking, though, wishing its bass profile was just a little punchier than what’s there.
All in all, it’s an extremely solid mid-range headset that excels at bolstering audio for both online multiplayer and some of the best single-player games. But if you’re put off by the price, know that the headset’s original PC version is subject to semi-frequent discounts, meaning the same could very well apply to these new console-compatible models in the coming months.

The first trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux, one of 2024’s most anticipated new movies, has finally been unleashed on the world, and it’s as beautifully unsettling as we’d expected it to be.
Released online after its worldwide debut at Warner Bros. Pictures’ 2024 CinemaCon presentation, the teaser gives us our first official look at the sequel to 2019’s billion-dollar making Joker. And, while the DC Elseworlds movie’s first trailer doesn’t give too much away about its plot – it’s only a teaser, after all – there’s enough we can glean from its footage to answer the most pressing questions you have about the follow-up to one of the best superhero movies (that’s subjective, mind you) ever made.
Before we provide answers to your queries, take a look at the Todd Phillips-directed film, which stars Lady Gaga alongside the returning Joaquin Phoenix, below:
Is Joker 2 going to be a musical?
That’s the biggest question on everyone’s lips after the release of Folie à Deux‘s first teaser. In recent months, fans have speculated that Joker 2 would be a musical, owing to the fact that Lady Gaga (more on her later) would co-star in it and that a recent Variety article suggested its soundtrack would “reinterpret” 15 classic songs, including That’s Entertainment from the 1953 musical The Band Wagon.
So, is Joker: Folie à Deux a full-blown musical? In short, no. Speaking during Warner Bros’ CinemaCon panel, director Todd Phillips said (per Entertainment Weekly): “We never really talked about it like that [being a musical], but I like to say it’s a film where music is an essential element”. If you were expecting an unhinged version of La La Land, then, you might want to rein in your expectations.
Who is Lady Gaga playing in Joker: Folie à Deux?
She’s playing someone that fans – comic book aficionados and otherwise – know very well: Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn.
Get the hottest deals available in your inbox plus news, reviews, opinion, analysis, deals and more from the TechRadar team.
However, the infamous Clown Princess of Crime’s origin story has been altered for this film. Indeed, Lady Gaga’s Quinzel won’t start out as a psychiatrist who becomes infatuated with Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck/Joker and eventually joins his cause to bring chaos to Gotham City. Instead, Quinzel will be one of Fleck’s fellow inmates at Arkahm Asylum.
The trailer suggests that the pair will fall in love and get embroiled in all kinds of shenanigans in Folie à Deux, but is it all a ruse? We know Fleck is an unreliable narrator/untrustworthy protagonist who lives a life of illusion – he proved as much in 2019’s Joker with his made-up relationship with Zazie Beetz’s Sophie among other other fantasy-based scenarios. It’ll be interesting to see, then, if all is as it appears when it comes to his burgeoning romance with Quinzel as Joker 2‘s story plays out.
What does Folie à Deux mean?
It’s French for “folly of two”, which is an apt decription for Fleck and Quinzel’s likely tragic (we’re speculating here, FYI) relationship. It’s a term that’s also used in psychology circles to characterize a shared delusional disorder, which typically sees hallucinations passed between two individuals, which Fleck and Quinzel are sure to engage in throughout Joker 2‘s runtime.
What song is used in Joker: Folie à Deux’s trailer?
That’ll be a cover of Jackie DeShannon’s ‘What The World Needs Is Love’, which feels like an apt choice for a movie whose dual protagonists – Phoenix’s Fleck and Lady Gaga’s Quinzel – have been starved of true affection throughout their lives. It’s why they’ll likely be drawn to one another in Joker 2 as these two emotionally and psychological damaged individuals seek comfort in a kindred spirit.
Who else is part of Joker 2’s cast?
So far, Warner Bros. has only confirmed that Phoenix and Lady Gaga will appear in the film. However, Joker 2‘s first trailer also reveals that Steve Coogan – best known as satirized media personality Alan Partridge – will play a supporting role as Fleck’s new psychiatrist. We see him chatting to Fleck on a couple of occasions in the teaser, but we don’t know the identity of his character just yet.
As for other actors who are expected to appear – again, Warner Bros. hasn’t confirmed any of these individuals will feature – The Hollywood Reporter suggests Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), Catherine Keener (Get Out), and Jacob Lofland (The Maze Runner) are part of the film’s roster. Deadline has also claimed that Harry Lawtey (Industry) will show up and that Beetz might reprise her role as Sophie from the 2019 original.
When is Joker: Folie à Deux’s release date?
Joker: Folie à Deux will launch exclusively in theaters worldwide on October 4, 2024. Funnily enough, as long as it keeps that release date, it’ll be five years to the date since Joker made its theatrical debut, before it went on to make over $1 billion globally and land multiple prizes on the 2020 awards circuit.
Is Joker 2 part of James Gunn’s DC Cinematic Universe?
No – well, it’s not part of the DCU Chapter One lineup, anyway. As we mentioned earlier, Joker 2 falls under the DC Elseworlds banner. Essentially, it’ll be part of a collection of films and TV shows that take place in alternate universes that exist independent of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.
Another example of DC projects that’ll be part of the Elseworlds brand is Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe. It’ll get its first spinoff later this year with The Penguin, a limited series that’ll air on Max (US), Sky Atlantic (UK), and Foxtel (Australia). Then, in October 2026, The Batman Part II will fly into theaters.
We don’t know if other DC Elseworlds productions are in the works, but there’s plenty of movement on the DCU Chapter One front. James Gunn’s Superman movie is currently being filmed, while production is expected to ramp up on Peacemaker season 2 and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow before 2024 ends. The DCU’s first official project – an R-rated animated show called Creature Commandos – is also set to debut sometime this year.

Even the best smartwatches can always do with extra battery life, and it’s something the Apple Watch 10 might deliver. The latest rumor is that the wearable will come with a more power-efficient OLED display, reducing the demand on the internal battery.
This comes from reputable South Korean outlet The Elec (via MacRumors), and if you really want to dig into the technical specs, it involves low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) technology.
Or, to put it another way, a screen that uses a different way of supplying voltage to pixels, offering more control over how much light goes through each one – and ultimately making it easier for a device to precisely manage illumination and power draw.
You’re unlikely to notice anything different from the Apple Watch 9 just by looking at the display, but the internal battery should stretch further. The catch is that LTPO tech is harder to manufacture, so let’s hope there’s not an accompanying price bump.
Screen machine
According to The Elec, both LG and Samsung could help out with the Apple Watch 10 screen. Although Samsung isn’t joining the party until later, so it may not get involved with manufacturing until the Apple Watch 11 in 2025.
If you think you’ve heard of LTPO OLED screens before, it may be because they’re used in the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The tech enables an always-on display without huge battery costs and support for variable refresh rates (ProMotion).
MacRumors says LTPO OLED displays are likely to be kept exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro models this year as well, though that could change in 2025. As with most tech like this, manufacturing it usually gets cheaper and easier over time.
