White cyborg finger about to touch human finger on city background 3D rendering
Bing’s ChatGPT brain is behaving so oddly that Microsoft may rein it in

[ad_1]

Microsoft launched its new Bing search engine last week and introduced an AI-powered chatbot to millions of people, creating long waiting lists of users looking to test it out, and a whole lot of existential dread among sceptics.

The company probably expected some of the responses that came from the chatbot to be a little inaccurate the first time it met the public, and had put in place measures to stop users that tried to push the chatbot to say or do strange, racist or harmful things. These precautions haven’t stopped users from jailbreaking the chatbot anyway, and having the bot use slurs or respond inappropriately.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro base
The first leaked photo of an iPhone 15 Pro is here, and it shows off the USB-C port

[ad_1]

One of the biggest iPhone 15 leaks yet has just emerged, in the form of an actual photo, supposedly showing an iPhone 15 Pro.

This image, which was shared by @URedditor (opens in new tab) on Twitter (via WCCFTech (opens in new tab)), doesn’t give us a complete look at the phone, but it does reveal what might be the biggest design change we’ll see with the upcoming model.

Specifically, the bottom edge of the phone is shown, and it includes a USB-C port. This is something that has long been rumored for the iPhone 15, and which Apple will have to add to iPhones within the next couple of years due to new EU laws. This is the closest thing yet to confirmation that we’ll see this change as soon as this year.

The source additionally claimed to MacRumors (opens in new tab) that USB-C will be used by all four iPhone 15 models, and that Apple is planning to replace the E75 Lightning Controller with an E85 Port Controller for the iPhone 15 series.

Parallels Desktop 18 for Mac running Windows 11, Ubuntu 22.04, and macOS Ventura
You can finally run Windows 11 on Apple Macs now…kind of

[ad_1]

Microsoft has announced that Apple Mac users can now use virtual machine software Parallels as an “authorized solution” for running Windows 11 on hardware equipped with the company’s own silicon (M1 and M2 chips).

Ever since Apple ditched Intel chips, it has been difficult for users to run Windows 11 on a Mac device. While there have been some dodgy workarounds, companies seeking an official solution have been left without one, leaving them issuing workers Windows-only devices, or a secondary device.

Samsung’s expected smartwatch with built-in projector: How will it work
The patent further highlights that the projector part of the smartwatch will include multiple lenses and LED emitted. The smartwatch will be able to mirror the main screen of the wearable on the user’s hand.
It is also mentioned that the LEDs inside the projector will be able to adjust its luminance for optimal viewing experience.
Presently, there is no information available on the launch timeline of the smartwatch. However, we might see some updates on the same in the coming months.

iPhone 15 Pro leaked render reveals design, USB-C port and more: What to expect
iPhone 15 Pro leaked render reveals design, USB-C port and more: What to expect

[ad_1]

Apple launched its latest iPhone 14 series in September 2022. Just like last year, the Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to introduce the next generation of its smartphones, the iPhone 15 lineup in the second half of 2023. However, the rumour mill about the iPhone 15 lineup is up and running and has also been churning out new speculations regularly. The latest rumour comes in a form of a leaked image which is expected to offer the first glimpse at the anticipated iPhone 15 Pro model. According to a report by 9to5Mac, exclusive renders of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro which are based on a CAD model have been leaked online. The render has been shared by case manufacturer and 3D Artist Ian Zelbo. The report suggests that the leaked images reveal some notable changes to the design and features of Apple’s upcoming flagship smartphone.
What are CAD files
These leaked renders are based on CAD files which are provided by Apple. The company shares such files with factories in Asia to prepare phone cases before the phone’s launch. This practice is done to ensure that when the device launches, the cases become available.
The iPhone 15 Pro leaked render CAD has reportedly arrived from a factory out of China. As per the report, this factory also seems to be the first to get these files. Previous CAD files have also been accurate to the final device in terms of both dimensions and design. As inaccurate CADs will be costly for the case designers and factories.
iPhone 15 Pro: Expected changes
The leaked renders reveal that Apple will switch from the Lightning port to USB-C. This will mark the departure of Apple’s proprietary connector that has been used on iPhones and other Apple products for a long time. However, the company is reportedly planning to limit the cables to the ones approved by Apple’s MFi program for data transfer speeds and charging speeds.
As per the images, the curvature of the edges on both the glass and the metal frame has also changed. In iPhone 15 Pro, the glass will curve slightly around the edges to create a more seamless transition to the frame. The report claims that the frame will also be more curved than before and will be similar to the design of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros or the new M2 MacBook Air. This new design is expected to make the phone more comfortable to hold and less prone to accidental touches.

The rear camera bump also seems to be thicker compared to its predecessor. This might indicate that Apple may have added new sensors or lenses to upgrade the camera system. However, the company has kept the camera layout similar to the iPhone 14 Pro. The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro will also have three lenses and a LiDAR scanner arranged in a square module. The camera lenses also seemed thicker in the latest renders which likely suggests larger image sensors.
Apple has also reportedly made some changes to the volume buttons and the mute switch on the side of the phone. Instead of physical buttons, the volume rockers now look like capacitive buttons, which was already rumoured. The company also may have redesigned the mute switch with a smaller and rounder shape button which looks similar to that of the capacitive buttons.
The leaked renders also show the phone with a thinner bezel and it is expected to sport the same 6.1-inch display in a slightly smaller body. Dynamic Island is also present in the leaked images and looks to be about the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro.

Tile trackers on a backpack
Tile takes on tag stalking problem by doing the opposite of Apple’s AirTag

[ad_1]

Bluetooth tracker company Tile is launching a new security measure that will, it promises, render its devices effectively invisible to stalkers, thieves, and any other bad actors.

Called Anti-Theft Mode (opens in new tab), it works by making the company’s trackers “undetectable by Scan and Secure”, a feature on Tile’s own app that allows iOS and Android users to “detect nearby Tiles”. With this new mode, the only person who knows where their device is at all times is the Tile owner.
